Accessing Your Account By FrontPage

FrontPage Extensions vs FTP

Although we will enable FrontPage extensions on request, we recommend using (FTP) File Transfer Protocol as the method of transferring files to your website. Please note that you can still use the FrontPage Editor to create your web pages and transfer them using FTP if FrontPage extensions are not enabled.

FrontPage extensions simply allow you to use FrontPage Explorer to transfer your files to your website with the use of the built in scripts as opposed to using our set of CGI scripts we have available for you to use.

Please take the following into consideration when you are making a decision about using either FrontPage extensions or FTP:

  • When FrontPage extensions are enabled, FTP will be disabled as you cannot use both methods of file transfer together on your account.
  • You will not be able to use our standard set of CGI scripts, instead you will need to implement the scripting that is incorporated into your HTML using the FrontPage Editor.
  • We cannot activate FrontPage extensions when files that have been transferred previously using FTP on your account as both types of files cannot reside on our server together.
